Alcohol Detox: Methadone Facts

Question: If doing a alcohol detox is 10mg of diazepam = 20mg librium ?

I have done alcohol detox before using prescribed Librium am now having another go using Diazepam 10mg and am not sure if 10mg diazepam=20mg Librium - ( ie diazepam is stronger) - if it is then I need to half the dosage over a 10 day withdrawing period, which has worked before if its the other way round, and Librium 20mg is less than 10mg diazepam then I should double the diazepam - can anyone clue me in about 20mg Librium/ 10mg Diazepam in this dettox situation ?

Conversion: 20 mg's of Librium (Chlordiazepoxide) is approximately equal to 8 mg's of Diazepam (Valium). Ratio: The ratio of Chlordiazepoxide to Diazepam is 2.5:1 Comparisons of benzos is not an exact science and some doctors will disagree. Also, Valium is likely to make you more drowsy than Librium so you may want to take it around bed time especially the first time you take it. My doctor has me take my full daily dose at bed time but your doctor may not have you do this. Both Librium and Valium are very long-acting.
