How to get into drug/ alcohol rehab?
im going on 18 years old in june. im on track to graduate high school but im heavily addicted to drinking, marijuana and perscription drugs. i dont know how to get help but i do want help this summer. so how do i get help?

I live in South Carolina. My husband drinks every single day usually a case or more of beer a day or 2 3 pints of liquor a week in combination with the beer . we have 2 wonderful children 13 & 10 who are suffering greatly because of this. They are always scared to be around him when he is drinking because he likes to play and wrestle with them, but always gets too rough. He loses his temper with my son almost daily and has jerked him around by his arm and I'm scared because it is escalating. I have made him move out but my children always cry and beg for him to come back. When he is not drinking he is a wonderful person and excellent father I am trying desperately to keep our family together, but I can't hold on anymore. He is becoming more aggressive and out of control everyday. His father is aware of the problem and has tried talking to him, but nothing is working. I know it sounds like a no brainer and that I should just throw him out and if it were just me, I would, but my children get so upset and they worry that he may injure himself or get hurt while he is drinking. We have tried mini interventions, but he always refuses to admit that there is a problem and storms out. At this point I want to find information on having him committed involuntarily and I have heard that this is possible if a spouse and a parent are willing, but I can't find any information on how to get the process started. His health is failing and he has constant injuries because of his drinking and I worry that he will die if he does not get help soon. He is only 31 , however his uncle died at 40 because of his alcoholism. I don't want that for my children and it is hard to see the generous wonderful man that I married turning into a monster. I can't relax even for a minute because I have to keep a constant watch on him especially when he loses his temper so frequently. If anyone out there has lived with an alcoholic you know how terrifying it can be. It is affecting my children mentally and emotionally and I have been on anti depressants and suffered from anxiety and panic attacks over the last 3 years. PLEASE HELP. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Please don't judge me and say that I am stupid, I just feel like I am stuck between a rock and hard place. No matter what I do my whole family will suffer. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

We live in Kansas. My husband has a very severe alcohol addiction. He has decided that he is ready to seek help. However, we have no insurance, and not even enough income to cover our basic bills. How can we get help for him, when we have no money? Is there a way to have him involuntarily committed, that would get the state to pay for it? Why is alcohol rehab so expensive?
A LARGE of alcoholics are the ones that DON'T have money.... so if someone REALLY WANTS to get help and doesn't have the money, what do they do? I know AA is good trying to support each other , but it's all a bunch of alcoholics talking about the GOOD OL DAY... and then many people realize how much they miss it and go back to it.... It's just so unfair in my opinion. ANYONE should be able to get the help they need. Our healthcare system in general is so screwed up.

Hi. I have been drinking heavily for a few years and have detoxed several times both medically supervised and at home with diazepam . Now I am booked in to a 28 day program in Australia Vic Addiction Centre. cos I need that extra help. What can I expect from this as it's pretty scary that no mobile phones allowed, or radios and barely any contact with family etc,,,? Has anyone else done this before?

I was just wondering if there are any programs where you can commit someone with an addiction the way you could commit them for being mentally ill. My husband is an alcoholic, his mother is also an alcoholic and at the point in time when my husband realized he could use rehab she told him she would not help him pay for it, mainly because she is also a drunk and sees nothing wrong with it. Now she has him convinced he does not need help and I don't know what to do.We can't afford treatment and as I said he now refuses to consider it but if I could find a place that would take payments AFTER he is sober we might be able to swing it. I would just need somewhere that I can check him in and he can't check himself out and I don't know if such a place exists.My husband drinks entirely too much, not only does he drink while at work which has cost him several jobs and drink then drive, he drinks while he is driving which is very dangerous.
