Question: How to avoid alcohol rehab?
(Posted by: Paris92 on 2010-02-21 14:39:07)
I'm not an alcoholic ive just had one too many binge drinking episodes last year like coming home too drunk or throwing up about five times. I understand that is completely not normal and I seriously tones it down. I went about seven months without another incident and earned my parents trust back. However last weekend I had a set back that I would do anything in the world to take back. It wasn't that I drank too much, I'm seventeen about 5'6 and 120 lbs, it was more what I had. Ive had more than what I had that night in the past and been ok this time just really fucked me up and was as much as a surprise to me as it was my parents. Now my parents are calling an alcohol specialist to evaluate me into wheather or not I need further treatment and or/ what kind. Basically my parents said they're going to listen to whatever they say and even cancel our vacation if she says so. I'm looking for advice from anyone who has been through a similiar situation. I'm scared that these alcohol people label anyone an alcoholic. Tips on how to get out of this situation as well as possible and what these people want to hear would be greatly appreciated. And please no purely judgemental comments, I know I really messed up and I'm willing to change I just don't need a therapist to do so, Thanks. |

Alcoholics always say that they can fix it on their own. just go, even if you dont think you need it. you just might learn something about yourself. do the mature thing. |

Well, I have to say that there will be consequences for every decision you make in life. You are young now, but will learn that in no time. Unfortunately, you did what you did and now the consequences are to see the therapist. There really isn't anything wrong with seeing the therapist. You might actually find that you like having someone to talk to. Give it a chance. Your parents know what is best for you and only do what they do because they love you. |
