Alcohol Rehab: Methadone Facts

Question: Does my alcohol rehab counselor have to keep this confidential?

I violated the terms of rehab, developing an outside friendship with this guy I'm in love with in rehab. He told me we can only be friends. Now that the rehab program has ended, I don't think he cares about being friends. I'm going crazy over this, so much so that I can't return to work. I think about him 24/ 7 and it is impairing my ability to function. This has taken the place of alcohol. I doubt my counselor will extend my disability unless I tell her this. Otherwise, she'll think I just don't want to return to work (I'm about to get fired). Will she keep this confidential or will she be obligated to tell his rehab counselor or even him not to contact me anymore? He is still in rehab part time in the day & I'm in rehab at night. Thx.

I think you need to tell her you are having a hard time and that you really feel for someone. She could do anything, but I would ask her what she would have to report. Um I just think you need to find someone you can tell to help you, but that will not report you. I think she could tell them whatever, but in the end the choice is up to you and the guy you love. I n most cases you should get the report within 60 days, but it can take an extra 30 days if you are given a reason.
