Question: I've just gotten out of alcohol rehabilitation. where can i find social support?

I don't want to go back to being an alcoholic again. Can anyone please tell me how I can build my social life and find friends without having to have to socialize with alcoholic people? It's taken me long to get sober, I don't want to just ruin all my efforts because of temptation. |

I applaud you for recovering, and for not wanting to start drinking again. As for your social support system, maybe you can go out there and find a group of people that you share common interests with. Get into something that you like. You can also find support in online forums related to alcoholism. It'll get you in touch with people who have been through the same thing that you have. It would be a great way to share stories and help each other stay sober. Good luck! |

You need to find an alcoholics anonymous group and change your play grounds and play mates dude. That is how I have stayed sober for over ten years now. Good luck to you and your sobriety ¬¿¬ |

Go to Alcoholics Anonymous...you will get a life, a social life, and you will find friends! Look in your city's Yellow Pages and see Alcoholic Treatment Info or in White Pages under Alcoholics Anonymous Central Office...they will give you info when you call them about where meetings are, etc. You can also go to alcoholics-anonymous.org and find out all about it. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO STAY SOBER! Or, type "Alcoholics Anonymous " in your search engine (Google) and you will see lots of things there. AA will help you resist temptation and there will be people there who you can talk to, have coffee with, call, have them call you, and lots more. Good luck and hang in there; no drinking or using NO MATTER WHAT! = ^.!.^= |

Check with the rehab center that you got out of - they probably know your area, and can better direct you it's hard, but you can stay sober peace+ |
