Alcohol Rehabilitation: Methadone Facts

Question: What can i do to get my cousin to undergo alcohol rehabilitation?

She lives with us. Her mom is far away and doesn't know that she has really been alcohol addicted. I don't know what I'm going to do.

You should probably start by talking to her and her mom. Get in touch with her mother and tell her the situation of your cousin. Have her talk to her daughter as this might help convince your cousin to get herself treated. If this doesn't work, though, you can always turn to alcohol intervention. Staging an intervention could prove to be effective especially if her closest family members and friends are there. You can ask the help of a professional, called intervention specialists, for this. Hi show her you care about her and that she needs help she probably doesnt realise how bad she is you need to speak to her when she is sober. and preferably hungover

Call your local AA and ask them about doing an intervention. What will happen is they will tell you the number to a local treatment center. You call them and ask about an intervention. They will ask you to get together other family members and friends who would want to be involved in the intervention. A meeting is set up with an intervention mediator involving everyone except your cousin so the mediator can tell everyone how an intervention works and what to do and say and what to expect. Then, everyone agrees on a time for intervention when all will meet with your cousin. The mediator will be there. If your cousin agrees to go into treatment then they get started. Treatment is usually about 30 days and the treatment center will ask family/ friends to attend some meetings/ classes and to come to visit on visiting day, etc., to show support to your cousin.
