Alcohol Rehabilitation: Methadone Facts

Question: What are the risks of being an alcoholic and not undergoing alcohol rehabilitation?

I happen to know a lot of teens in our neighborhood who are already alcoholic and seem to have no plans of going to an alcohol rehab. I don't think they understand the risks of drinking alcohol. I'm close to some of them, and I want to enlighten them about this.

There are lots of risks that go with alcohol addiction. These are just some of them: * Death or injuries because of alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes. * Death or injuries because of alcohol-related suicide and homicide. * They are more prone to engaging in sexual activities and have unprotected sex than teens who don't drink. This puts them at a higher risk for getting HIV, AIDS, and other sexually-transmitted diseases. * They are also more likely to be victims of violent crimes like assault, robbery, and rape. * Those who drink are more likely to have problems regarding their conduct and school work. * This could lead to having dual diagnosis. * Teens who drink are more likely to develop alcohol dependence.

Well, then they just keep on drinking and will face some alcohol related health issues later on

These youths need more than guidance. they need a purpose. the community [and your good self] should help them to wean off the alcohol and do some community work or self-help activities. when they see something meaningful to do for themselves or the community, then they will hopefully find that purpose. also we cannot be too prescriptive nor too pushy as they will simply stay off. rope in two or three of them to help the community do something eg clean aged home, homeless shelter. must strengthen their mind as the other peeers will jeeer them. its tough and laborious and time consuming. good luck
