Hi there.My 23 year old sister used to be a heavy drug user since she was 18.She took everything under the sun crack, heroin,acid,ecstasy,marijuana,speed you name it she took it.I believe all these drugs caused her moods to swing.She switched to high to low and back again in varying degrees of severity.She entered a rehabiliatation center where a mental health professional told her she was bipolar.Well since leaving the rehad she has been clean for over a year and her moods have completely evened out and she is a much more balanced person.Was her heavy drug use confused with bipolar?Was she misdiagnosed?

i was 13 when i broke my wrist and was prescribed hydrocodon. i didnt get addicted then but i started to like it. in 10th grade i got hooked on hydrocodon and inhalent for about 7 months untill my parents found out and made me sleep in the same room as them and take suprivised showers for a whole month straight then in 11th grade i got back into it with antianxiaty pills xanex zoloft vallium but i was also just using whatever i could get my hands on weed speed x meth anything especially diph and dimenhydrate. im 3 months clean now seeing a counsiller and never want to go back to drugs but i still catch myself rolling up dollars and thinking about drugs. and i have nightmares about it almost every night. thats why i dont sleep unless i have to. i never want to go back to what i did and i wish i never did it but, will i ever really heal.p.s. i dont buy that bs about weed not being a drug

I've been depressed since I was 10 and I'm 18 now. I've recently decided to go to a psychiatrist. But if I tell him that I have a past with drug abuse not addiction will not inhibit him from giving me medication for depression?

I need advice on drug abuse....?
My brother has been taking vicodin regularly for the past ten years,he sometimes tells me he feels he's addicted but because he doesn't feel its extreme he won't give it up, In all honesty he doesn't hurt other people and he doesn't rob people or steal for the pills,but I can see a difference in him he doesn't and I don't know what to say to him to make him see what he's doing to himself,he doesn't leave the house and is afraid to talk to people other than his immediate family, I love him very much and don't want to alienate him but I am afraid for is health,.am i just being overbearing?

How can i get a doctor to prescribe benzodiazepines to me with a history of alcohol and drug abuse?
I am 38 years old and haven't done hard drugs in years, I do smoke pot about twice a month though. I did have a history of hard drug use 15 years ago, and drink every now and again. I saw a psychiatrist last week and he said he wouldn't prescibe them because of the pot use, but the alcohol was fine. I need advice please, the benzos are new to me and are working wonders BTW I am diagnoised as Bipolar and have major depressive disorder moderate servere and have a history of attempted suicides.
