Continue or contribute? I think peer pressure has a lot to do with it. Also, boredom. I think people get bored and give it a try. Personally, I started to take drugs when I found out I had bipolar disorder, it was easier to cope that way (I'm sober now don't you worry).

Do you mean contribute to drug abuse? If so I think there's many factors that can lead to a person abusing drugs: *An addictive/ risk taking personality *Poverty...wanting to mentally escape personal circumstances and also if a person lives in a very deprived area there is more likely to be a drug taking culture *Mental illness....people can abuse drugs to self-medicate and cope with mental health problems *Peer pressure *Lack of education

Depression due to having had crappy sh*t happened to you in the past. Emptiness. Not really having a vision for your future. Sometimes people are mentally ill and are trying to feel normal. As far as continuing, honey, that's called addiction and at that point the drug in using you instead of the other way around. Tough to escape or so I've heard.

I see people that ruin their lives and don't seem to care why? Even with care & help from people that truly love them. I therefore feel that some degree of the problem is genetically predisposed and a idiotic lack of discipline & a drive for pure pleasure regardless of the consequences; or harm it causes others. After a time it is a self fulfilling prophesy for lazy undisciplined people to not be answerable to anyone and a excuse to not work. Just stay high in a chemical stupor.

@Green man I thought you should know your answer is both very judgmental, and quite ignorant. It's quite obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. People that are addicted to drugs, much like the people you mentioned that "ruin their lives and don't care, " can't control it. Once you are addicted, and or dependent on a drug, it's a lifelong thing. Abusing drugs everyday for X amount of time changes your brain chemistry, and fucks with your frontal lobes logical thinking. So, even if they WANT to quit using drugs, they will need the help of several medical health professionals. Even then, they still have an uncontrollable pull towards using the drugs; if you're addicted to drugs, you lose all control. Before you pass judgments on people, you should brush up on your knowledge of the subject. Yes, it's stupid to even try drugs, but a lot of people try it just because. It only takes one taste to get hooked.
