Question: Could his drug abuse cause a miscarriage?

We lost our son around 5months and have no idea what caused it. His father was abusing drugs when we conceived (he is completely clean and has been for months) is it at all possible that his drug abuse could've effected the baby and possibly caused the miscarriage? He was addicted to percocets and using xanax and other drugs. I've heard that alcohol and smoking could effect sperm so I wasn't sure if drugs could also.

Depends on the drug. I know a couple that have a very bright, intelligent son that was conceived when they were both high on acid. Sorry for your loss. I know you want to find a reason that makes sense, but sometimes there isn't one. If you are looking to place blame on his drug abuse it will deteriorate your relationship with him. I've had 6 miscarriages.

Maybe if u were receiving 2nd hand to it wen the baby was in ur stomach it cud have caused it. but probably no, if he was on drugs wen u were having sex, i dont see how his sperm cud have been affected by it and still be able 2 travel through u and start to develop a baby

Yes it is possible that his drug use caused the marriage.

You should probably talk to your doctor about this? They can give you much better/ more accurate info than you'll get here I think. But basically the answer is no. Drugs from the father wouldn't really cause miscarriage, certain drugs/ substances can lower sperm count in men but this type of drug doesn't really cause any damage to the live sperm the man actually produces. His overall sperm count may have been a bit low but the sperm he was making were probably not any different than they would've been if he didn't use drugs.
