It's obvious ecstasy, makes people overly happy, in a very short time. It would be very easy for the drug manufacturers to make slow release capsules I guess. Isn't there such a thing as serotonin reuptake inhibitors that dramatically increase the amount of serotonin in the brain quickly even though it still takes a long time to take effect? The question I was meaning is why isn't ther medicine available that works immediately?

Methadone Methadone helps block the euphoric effects of drugs like heroin and morphine.

In short, antidepressants work by allowing the increase in the amount of neurotransmitters that you store in your nerve endings. It take time for your body to manufacture the levels you need for this; similar to it taking time to replace red blood cells. This is why it takes up to three weeks for full benefit and also why it can take that much time for the effects to wear off. It has nothing to do with the timed released feature incorporated into the medication. This is a simplification but should give you your answer.

Anti-depressants don't work like ecstasy. They don't make you happy at all. They just stabilize your emotions and make it possible to be happy. Additional Details: Bad Dad explained why it doesn't work immediately, but you still aren't understanding. Try reading it again.
