Question: Is the risk for drug abuse the reason anti-depressants take weeks to reach full effect?

It's obvious ecstasy, makes people overly happy, in a very short time. It would be very easy for the drug manufacturers to make slow release capsules I guess. Isn't there such a thing as serotonin reuptake inhibitors that dramatically increase the amount of serotonin in the brain quickly even though it still takes a long time to take effect? The question I was meaning is why isn't ther medicine available that works immediately? |
