The kid is about 21 years old and has been known to smoke a lot of weed since the age of about 17. He was your average joe pothead, nothing more. Lately, in the past couple months he has been going through a few changes. He used to be really over weight and now he has lost a lot of weight. He used to care about what he looked like and try to dress like the average kid, get haircuts, shave..etc. Well now he doesn't give a crap what he wears, never shaves, hair is a mess and is always walking around with not much energy. Some days he will sleep in his room all day long, and others he will not sleep at all. He's not into doing the things he used to do like talking on the phone to girls, going on facebook, playing videogames, watching football. Instead he goes out all night with some shady characters who are known to do heavy drugs and comes back in the early hours of the morning. Physical changes that i notice when he says he's just high are that his pupils are pinned to the size of a pencil point. He also will not stop scratching himself. He just sits down slumped and chills. His face has gotten more pale or a little bit different looking than 2 months ago. Does any one have any idea of what kind of drugs this person sounds like they might be using? |

Sounds like heroin to me. Heroin, morphine, pethideine, and other opiates will reduce the eyes to pin pricks, amphetamines tend to make the eyes huge. The sleeping and lack of energy also points to heroin. I hope not. The good news is there is treatments heroin addicts can get, including using methodone to wean themselves off it. I'm not a doctor, but I've done plenty of drugs in my misspent youth. Good luck. |

It doesn't sounds good for your friend. You should sit down with him and have a serious heart to heart. Pretty much explain what you said here with more detail to him and see how he reacts. Ask him to quit or go to rehab. If he doesn't change his ways soon then he might run into a lot of trouble with the law or with his own health, unless he is already experiencing problems. recoveryconnection.org |
