Another thing is that she lost her job so that has made the situation a little worse, but my dad and I have been there for her as much as possible. Its understandable at times, but the mixture of drugs and alcohol is getting out of hand.My family and I are very concerned about my mother and how many drugs she is taking along with alcohol. She has many types of drugs she is taking, pain killers from many different doctors , antidepresants, and many others for diabetes and many other health issues. We are worried that she is taking much more than is perscribed by the doctor, then she drinks until she is drunk while taking these medications. She is pretty much a zombie daily and my father and I don't like seeing her that way. She can not go a day without taking her pain medication, which she probably is in pain, but is taking more than she is supposed to. She has told me in the last couple of days that she has been driving down the wrong sinde of the road and while on the interstate could not stay in one lane, it is very concerning, as she could hurt herself and others. I have been trying to research rehab centers and weather myself or my father could admit her. She jokes about oh well if i die you will have plenty of money from life insurace, which is not funny at all as id rather have my mother around than getting money. I am very concerned for her safety and her health. The other day she couldnt figure out how to start her vehicle and I had to get off work to pick her up. If someone could get me some info and how to deal with this and if we are able to admit her to a rehab center without her concent? She doesnt think she has a problem when we have discussed it with her. Please help, thank you

I went to a huge outdoors event this weekend where a lot of people were drinking and doing ecstasy amongst other drugs . As we were leaving the event there was another group of people by us rushing toward some security guards. Two or three of these people were holding up this guy who was mainly limp and his head was rolling around. They rushed the guy to the first aid booth, but I hope they got him to a hospital since my boyfriend said he saw the guy was foaming at the mouth. Very scary and I'm so glad I wasn't that guy or his friends.Assuming he was overdosing on ecstasy and alcohol, what would have been done to him at the hospital? Like, would they have pumped his stomach and done something else?Just curious...it was a scary sighting, to say the least

Can a relationship between a drug addict and someone who has never had an issue with drugs/alcohol ever work?
My boyfriend is a drug addict. He was clean when we met and has since relapsed. I found out recently and my initial reaction was to end the relationship. But I only did that because I thought it was the smart thing to do. In reality, I am not ready to give up on him yet. I know I should be trying to protect myself and move on...and my family will freak if I go back to him. But the fact is that I can't get it to sink into my head that he will always be messed up or that our relationship won't work.

Is an addict really doing well after going cold turkey after 12 years of drug/alcohol abuse?
After 12 years of using cocaine and alcohol, the addict stopped using cold turkey and appears to be genuinely clean. This person is very comfortable speaking about his bad experiences and is doing so much better. He is definitely no longer using. He is staying with family and does not hang out with the people that are still living that lifestyle. Is the person in need of therapy even though they are moving on and making impressive life decisions? Thanks.
