Are there any drug & alcohol addiction programs that doesn't involve attending AA meetings or taking time out?
Everyday I am fighting the desire to just give up on my boyfriend who is a drug and alcohol addict. He can't afford the time out or the money to attend any rehabilitation programs. He has emotionally stunted growth so is unable to talk about any of his anxieties, of which there appear to be many. He hasn't had a shitty childhood. So I don't really understand his emotionally stunted growth. But I am at my wits end. I don't know how I can help him and patience alone is not working.By " taking time out" I am referring to almost locking onself away at a rehabilitation centre for 21 days or however many days it takes. Being self employed, he can't even afford to take a day off.

What are the side effects of antidepressants with drugs/alcohol?
i have a 18 year old brother that i would like to inform him of what drugs and alcohol do to you if you take them while on antidepressants. i am 16 and taking antidepressants i want him to know about the bad things.

Can pure grain alcohol cause you to fail a drug/alcohol test?
Many gas stations and head shops in my town still sell herbal incense smoke that people use to get high off of by smoking it just like marijuana without the consequences of the law. It is still 100 % legal where i live. i recently asked a distributor of a brand of herbal smoke and he informed me that they soak spray their herb in PURE GRAIN ALCOHOL instead of acetone like many others. My question is simple if someone were to smoke the herbal incense inhale just like someone would smoke marijuana and then that person took a drug alcohol test, would the PURE GRAIN ALCOHOL be detected in the ALCOHOL part of the test?I am very aware that the herbal incense is not " intended" for human consumption.I am very grateful to anyone who can give me knowledgeable answer respectably. Thank you

What will they do if i admit that ive done drugs (alcohol and painkillers at different times)?
im getting help for my issues depression, anxiety, cutting, sometimes feeling unreal and paranoid at a behavioral center but i havent been completely honest yet its only really been one real appointment though and really all that happened was a little bit of talking, next appointment which is a while away i might get put on medication , and i dont think i can because im scared of what they will do.probably what im most scared of happening is that they might think i have a drug problem im not addicted as i rarely drink take painkillers or might be trying to get drugs to get high.

I NEED to stop using drugs & alcohol but I'm not so sure how?
I'm taking some very hard classes in school and these habits are making it nearly impossible to pay attention pass. I've been drinking and using drugs for 4 years so I really don't know how to stop. I try but I don't seem to have enough self control. Mainly alcohol and cocaine are my problems but I use other things

How much of a role does drug & alcohol abuse by parents play in developing addiction in children?
F.e If both of your parents were heavily into drugs and alcohol mother smoked and did cocaine while pregnant how does this affect their offspring in developing addictions whether it be drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. Also, on the fathers side his father was heavily addicted to alcohol at one point. As well as the mother on his mothers side being addicted to alcohol. Deep down I know the answer but I guess I am looking for someone to put this into perspective a bit. I also don't know exactly how much more likely this would be marginally or exponentially Thanks

Question about working in a drug/alcohol rehab center?
About a year ago, my brother died from a heroin overdose. It has destroyed my family and ever since then I've wanted to work in a drug alcohol rehab center so that I can help other people save their lives before it is taken by drugs like my brother's was. I'm now a freshman in college and I figured my best bet was to major in psychology. I have a few questions regarding working in a rehab center. What exactly would my title be? I'm assuming I would be considered a drug councellor? I want to work directly with the patients and help them recover. That being said, is psychology the right field? And finally, what's it like working in a rehab center? I imagin it will beb very depressing and sressful but I'm so determined to help others recover from addiction. I wish every day that my brother was strong enough to recover. Thanks for all the answers
