Question: What happens when a person is taken to the hospital when they have a drug/alcohol induced seizure?

I went to a huge outdoors event this weekend where a lot of people were drinking and doing ecstasy [amongst other drugs]. As we were leaving the event there was another group of people by us rushing toward some security guards. Two or three of these people were holding up this guy who was mainly limp and his head was rolling around. They rushed the guy to the first aid booth, but I hope they got him to a hospital since my boyfriend said he saw the guy was foaming at the mouth. Very scary and I'm so glad I wasn't that guy or his friends. Assuming he was overdosing on ecstasy and alcohol, what would have been done to him at the hospital? Like, would they have pumped his stomach and done something else? Just curious...it was a scary sighting, to say the least! |

Checked for what he took first, with a blood toxin test. Then depending on what it all was, give an IV to counteract it. I doubt they'd pump his stomach...whatever he took is already in his blood stream, if he was that far gone. I did my share of experimenting...but never with really hard stuff. I never liked being that out of control. Not my idea of a good time -- hopefully, he'll be ok and maybe wake up and realize he can have a good time without that crap. |

Like the other person said they would have not pumped the person's stomach. They only could have done that right after he took it or a little longer. When the foaming at the mouth ect. came it was too late. They probably gave him something to stop it from happening and put him on a iv. Also most people don't have this happen to them when they're drinking and doing ecstasy. He probably had a bad pill which could have been easily tested with all those free kits they have these days. Or he overheated from partying and not drinking water. I bet it was a scary sight but it probably could of been prevented. Lucky they got him in time because my friend who use to be addicted to heroin we found him dead in his room from overdosing. It was sad because he was only 18 and for only 4 months. Scary sight to see at only 15 but that was a year ago and it still effects me. So I try to do less hardcore drugs and only smoke weed and do shrooms. Well anyways sorry you had to see that. And your lucky it wasn't you. |
