Drug Alcohol: Methadone Facts

Question: I have to do an oral presentation on drug/alcohol addiction--need better ideas other than a powerpoint?

We are getting mostly graded on getting the class to participate or get into conversation. Most people do power points, but that's just too lame for me. It's a college class. What can I do to make it fun?

How to make it fun? How about you use the fact that THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) decreases the risk of lung cancer and also will reduce tumor sizes and stop cancer from spreading to other parts of the body? That should make it fun. sciencedaily.com/ releases/ 2007/ 04/ 070417193338.htm

You can include some gripping addiction scenes from movies. Movies dealing with this theme include: Trainspotting, Requiem for a dream, Blow, Party Monster, Wonderland. You could even include clips from that 'intervention' show where they show how far gone addicts are. Provide some statistics that will actually surprise people. Talk about the things addiction will actually cause people to do, and the things they give up for it.
