Drug Alcohol: Methadone Facts

Question: Is an addict really doing well after going cold turkey after 12 years of drug/alcohol abuse?

After 12 years of using cocaine and alcohol, the addict stopped using cold turkey and appears to be genuinely clean. This person is very comfortable speaking about his bad experiences and is doing so much better. He is definitely no longer using. He is staying with family and does not hang out with the people that are still living that lifestyle. Is the person in need of therapy even though they are moving on and making impressive life decisions? Thanks.

Everyone has to conquer drug and alcoho abuse there own way. I think if it is working for him then let him be if he slips or relapses ask him if her has a sponsor. You don't have to only have a sponsor in twelve step programs like na or aa. A sponsor is free first of all and it is someone who has been there and your friend can identify with. Seeking profesional help needs to be your friends choice. I personally think if he is doing fine let him be.
