All communities have substance abuse treatment centers that offer sliding fee scales, and payment through government-funded programs. They may not tell you that up front; you have to ask. The Title XX program is one of them. Its a federal program, for which you will not have to pay anything. But like any other government program, you have to qualify. Be prepared to provide proof of income, identification, if it is court-ordered, etc. Call your local agency or agencies (some may only treat for certain types of abuse, may have other admission criteria, etc.), and ask what you need to do, and if they participate in Title XX (20). Your state/ county may also have resources to pay. Also, unless there is a court order, your privacy is protected, so a family member, boss, neighbor, etc, cannot just call & get info on your progress, or even if u are indeed a client there. I used to work at a substance abuse/ mental health treatment facility, so I am familiar with payment obstacles that many people face, and the payment options available for those with limited income. All the best and you are to be commended for taking the first step!. |
