Drug Methadone: Methadone Facts

Question: Have any of your family members died after taking the drug methadone?

The death tolling is rising, 24 hours after my family member took the drug they passed out in there sleep and died. i was just wondering if this happend to your family.

Hi there i have been on methadone for over a year methadone is for people addicted to opiates the only way some one could die after taking it would be for instance say they dont take opiates aka pain killers oxy's,moraphine ,dillaudid etc..and of course heroin.but if they dont or were not addicted to opiates and took methadone they could die from the smallest dosage,thats why not just anybody can take it.also methadone is to help people with severe pain.also if you mix certain other drugs with methadone it can be lethal like certain valium pills cannot be taken with it because you could die in your sleep ...example serax aka ozasapams..another possibility is if the dosage is too high fo rthe person that could also be lethal as well.i hope this bit of info helps you..sorry to hear about your family member ..thats sad

THAT S TERRIBLE! I ve been on this for Some time and although there are people dying with Methodon in thier system if an atopsy is done you,ll find that there was a MIXTURE of Drugs THEY TOOK! maybe "the drug " that got them taking this drug in the 1st place or "another "drug.. Valuim and other meds thats are depressents are often taken inproperly with Methodone..Iam truly sad for your loss.But i am afirm believer this is a life saver for Most People that WANT to StoP the lifecycle of addiction,And It also works great for cancer patients and for severe pain ! I Do know ANY DRUG can be abused! and Many drugs even OTC ones can be overtaken by some in suicidal states and they can die or end up on lifesupport.When it comes to the choice one makes in life to Use Drugs in the first place,I believe it is that " C h o i c e " People make bad choices everyday.Heck the Goverment makes choices for US everyday ! Is it wrong? For some maybe -for others it's not ?Where I live I,ve seen ALL TYPES of pill takers and now they shoot/ snort/ smoke Anything!I have known over 300 people to OD here and this is a small comunity,and they are just NOW looking into programs Both Non-Medicated and Medicated,this is 2007 !WHY Because the almighty dollar kept Re -Hab out of here cuz >THEY <Couldn,t find a way to make a dollar on peoples rehabilitation..They might Wake up from Thier stooper and get thier act together !So sorry About this ,this question just strikes Feelings of loss that I have seen Due to No Help for those on Dope and it hurts !I Feel for yor loss and for So Many others that were given these MEDS or others and there family JUST Doesn,t know The effects these drugs have! and there's the doctors/ clinics that DOn,t make sure that A family Member or someone that knows the "individuals history "So with that who am I and what does my opinion mean.. NOTHING ! I have been on BOTH sides of the track ! I know Medicated Programs WITH counseling group/ individual DO WORK for Many Not All will be cured over nite but with some it may save them! IN TIME,~just hang in there- one day at a time commited to recovery~with support They CAN recover !! I AM 20yrs clean now Today i Know the truth and can Handle it one day at a time THANK GOD ABOVE there is NO real Hope in dope seek a program if you are reading this and You Know who You are..Talk with mental health agencys they can direct YOU To a Program that fits your needs.. and if you have someone on this drug Methodone get information on its effects long term- find out side effects-watch out for there Well Being. Support Them in there quest for re-covery ~
