Drug Rehab: Methadone Facts

Question: How do you cope with a loved one going through drug rehab?

My girlfriend is a heroin user and her mom checked her into a drug rehab place in Florida and I'm all the way in NY. Shes going to be down there for 7 weeks. I was just wondering if theres anything I can do to help ease the pain of missing her. Shes all I think about and my life sucks now that shes gone. I know shes doing something good for herself but all i do is worry and question myself all the time. Will she still like me when she comes back? Will she still use when she comes back? Im driving myself nuts. I dont know what to do to help get my mind off things. I pray regularly, go to church, and try and keep busy all the time but nothing still seems to work. This is stressful stuff. I need help I dont do drugs, she does. Im clean, I never have used them and will never will. I just need help on how to deal with this whole situation of her being there. Its tough

Great Question! Go to alanon or naranon meetings, work the 12 steps and work with a sponsor. There are several books on the twelve steps that you can buy at alanon meetings. Look in your local phone book and find alanon or look online to find the location and time of the meetings. Going to alanon is the best thing you could do for yourself and your girlfriend.
