Drug Treatment: Methadone Facts

Question: Can you admit yourself into drug treatment without your parents knowing? if so, than how?

Im addicted of course, and im ready to get help. but i can not tell my parents. it would not make things better. they would try to help themselves. but i know drug treament is my only option, being that i have crossed the line i have a problem with ecstasy and synthetic heroin. my parents have caught me with weed before and they flipped. they thought helping was grounding me. but holding me inside all day caused me to rebel. i dont know if thats the case for every 16 year old kid to do, but thats just the case with me. of course they will be supportive but maybe they cant handle it the right way ALSO. if not rehab. like soebody said below. are there any counceling or group sessions that i can do?

Hmm go to your councillor and ask them for a card for a drug abuse clinic in your area. if you don't want to do that, google "drug abuse clinic [insert area here] " and they should be able to keep it confidential. if no, then you don't have a choice but to tell them.

How do you know rehab is your only option? What other measures have you tried? You may find your parents are more supportive and willing to try these things than you anticipate.

You are not old enough to consent to treatment, so legally, you could not do so. On the other hand, there are various "anonymous " groups where anyone of any age could walk in the door, have a coffee, and find a solution to just that problem.

First thing you have to do is to assess yourself, if indeed you are ready to be admitted in a drug rehab center. You are also going to need some cash if you are planning to have counseling or therapy, which is why your parents will also find out one way or the other. But then the willingness to change for the better is up to you.
