I feel for you both. Been there 3 times and that's enough, my med bag stays in my sight at all times unless I lock in the safe. You results will vary since everyone is different, but methadone stays longest of all the opiates. I really don't understand methadone maintenance, as it's not to remove any dependence, and most drugs when abused can bust through the buzz blocking affect. All you really do is trade one opiate for another except it's now a legal Rx and the government is now your pusher. You're likely looking at at least 6 days. 3 for the drug to clear and 3 for the withdrawal it's self. Everybody is different and any psychological withdrawal can last as long as you let it. The world is depressing sometimes. Gotta deal with it eventually, it's not going to get better without effort. If only a drug would last forever, huh? Your dealer is not doing you any favors. You do just reset things. That not a good route. Usually in maintenance they will taper your dose down and while you will still feel crummy, it won't be anywhere close as intense as now. The problem with methadone clinics is there's usually one doctor who can prescribe drugs and the rest of the people are social worker or some damn thing. You really should aside from the taper, get some meds that will reduce the symptoms. There's plenty of stuff behind the pharmacy counter that would help, but not so much on the shelves out front. I found Nyquil, benedryl, compazine, some cough medicines do help, but you'll still be might uncomfortable. They may help some though. Please try to stay within the dose suggestions. watch the tylenol intake, they put that poison in to everything. There are some herbal said to help, but results vary. Melatonin, Valerian root, plus a couple more who's names escape me at the moment. All this stuff can only do so much against cold turkey withdrawal. I know you want to go fast on this, but even the 8 hour withdrawal where they knock you out and inject you with a cocktail of drugs does not seem to work and you still end up wanting to jump out of your skin. and a big fat bill. A taper is really the only way to go, the longer and more gradual, the smoother it's going to be. If all else fails, you can give bupe a try. Suboxone or Subutex. I heard good thing about them, they're better at blocking the buzz, any withdrawal is supposed to be greatly reduced and they can step down the dose pretty fast without you feeling like this. It's still swapping opiates, but unlike methadone these drugs work for addiction. Best of luck. |
