Methadone won't rot your teeth directly like methamphetamine, but can decrease saliva production. Saliva helps protect your teeth from cavities, so indirectly methadone can lead to cavities. Chewing sugarless gum after meals can increase saliva flow and help prevent cavities.

What happens is methadone causes dry mouth as you don't produce enough saliva.The acids in your mouth are then able to attack the teeth causing the decay.I always tell people that first start to get their teeth cleaned and to make sure they always have a bottle of water around. The people that I know that do this don't have any problems at all.Also alot of doctors fail to tell patients that methadone can cause cravings for sweets.These should be avoided anyway but alot of people end up sitting around all day eating sweets and nodding out.Methadone patients have to be active or the sedating effects of methadone can take over

Grandpa walleye - meth and methadone are two different drugs.they are not even close to being like each other. meth is something they make on the streets and it is rocks or powder it is speed.methadone is either a liquid or pill that is made by a pharmaceutical company. It's usually given to heroin addicts or for pain.
