What are opioids? i'm very distressed because someone i live with has an opioid history. i don't even know what opioids are, but he's currently prescribed methadone and lexapro. is he potentially dangerous? i just found out. EDIT: i think that he's still using something. he's advocating drug usage on the internet and doing strange things at home here. and getting into a lot of unsafe accidents. EDIT: i don't have access to his doctor. he doesn't give me his medical information. i found these things out by reading things that he's written over the internet.

Methadone is what people take who are gettin off heroin and its just another form of heroin. It is the strongest of the strong and it doesn't get you high like people think it is used for major pain most of the time in people who are dying like cancer patients and other people to and its lethal. My dad died from a accidental drug overdose of methadone and xanax then my grandpa died of a heart Attack and my uncle and grandma became homeless,so I am letting you know now you better get on it and fix this situation and find someone who can help you.you can find the pill bottle call the doctor explain you are scared for this person and they abuse it and hopefully the doctor helps if not tell him or her to drop your family member as a patient and find them a new one and you tell the new doctor everything from the drug abuse and the old doctor and you dispense the meds as needed and hide them at all times that is the best way to help them I swear, I am doing it right now with my grandma and uncle*(my deceased dad's mom and brother) because they both are addicts to the meds and had a doctor who prescribed everything and my granny got depressed when my dad died plus she has arthritis in her legs and she was taking so many eds and she cut her wrist open!!!! yes my grandma did that and it was five times deep to the arteries and she was in a rehab for a month and my uncle got so messed up off pills the next day he wrecked my dads truck and went to jail.so I called their doctor and told him i will sue and call every news station if you dont release them and never take them back. I chose their new doctors I take them to the appointments I give meds as directed and I am helping them its not easy but it is the right thing to do.please get ready to go through a lot but stay strong . contact me if needed prettymindy21@yahoo.com

Lexapro is an anti-depressant/ anti-anxiety pill. Methadone is generally prescribed to people who once had an addiction and no longer do. I wouldnt be too concerned about it.

Opioids are drugs derived from Opium, which comes from the poppies that grow in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Thailand etc anywhere really. There are codeine, morphine and heroin. Methadone is a synthetic heroin subsitute and long acting. Opioids are good pain killers but also give a euphoric buzz, thats why the are so addictive. Stay away from street drugs they will ruin your life. Every year 10% of addicts die.... Be cool and recover, Good luck!!! I'm sorry your friend is still using. He needs help, but only when he is ready. You also need help, maybe support. Be tough with him, it's hard but you have to be 'cruel to be kind'. otherwise you are enabling.
