Question: Will i become addicted to methadone if i take it for 4 or 5 days?
(Posted by: walter B on 2010-07-28 00:28:30)
I currently am taking about 45 to 60mg oxycontin a day and have been for the past year or so. Oak now at a point in my life were I want nothing more then to stop takin these damn pills. I have a friend that can get me methadone pills. I am planing on taking the pills for 4 or 5 days to help me quit. Mentally I'm more ready to stop then anything else in this world but I feel I need something to just take away the cravings. I know that If I can go for the few days without the opiate I will be able to stop. My concern is will I become phallically addicted to the methadone after taken it for a few days and will the pain of the withdrawals from the oxy be gone after those few days |

4 to 5 days is not gonna happen.being optimistic is good but lets be realistic. thats a moderate habit daily oxy intake that your body AND brain will be absolutely screaming for. you could try cold turkey but you will be very sick with fever and flu like symptoms for 2 weeks. but wouldnt recommend cold turkey unless you were locked up somewhere Now to do it comfortably, you can ween yourself off gradually but i wouldnt rush it. Tappering down over the course of 1 to 2 months would be ideal. The tail end of that period you will be removing yourself of the methadone dependancy. You will still be irritable throughout this time but it wont be nearly as bad as if you try and rush this. if you try and do this too quickly, you most likely end up back on the pills and taking more than before. Or you may find a substitute drug to replace the oxy, increase in drinking habits is common in this situation. Just to name a few things. remember your goal is to get off the pills and stay off. |
