Question: Help! questions about vicodin addiction?

I have pain in my back all the time and i was prescribed vicodin. i have been taking it for about 2 months, but im soo sad and depressed when im not on it. I cant get happy unless i have it, and i know its because of dopamine and stuff. my question is, does tylenol extra strength mess with my dopamine also? cause that helps with the pain too and i would rather take that and be able to get happy again

No tylenol is not a mood changing drug, it only is an over the counter pain killer like Aspirin or Ibuprofen. ES Tylenol is very bad for the liver, half the people waiting for liver transplants was because of overuse of tylenol. Add alcohol and you can induce liver failure in one day! That may not be a good choice! Personally I like Fioricet w/ codeine for my chronic pain. I take a few a day and it's not a problem for me. I may be addicted but I could quit if I had to because I dont take it to get high! Well Marilyn I've been taking it for 10 years and it hasn't hurt me yet!

Steven- Just because you don't take it to get high does not mean you can just quit if you become addicted. If it were that easy, then there wouldn't be so many people down here in Florida addicted to painkillers even though they never took them to get high. It is a huge problem here, so please do not make dangerous statements like this. To the asker, tylenol will not mess with your dopamine because it's not a mind-alterring drug, however it's not good for you to do so. You need to tell your doctor that you are having this problem because he will be obligated to help you fix it. Edit: There is NO reason that you should be taking those medications for 10 years, I don't care what kind of doctor you have.
